Cumbernauld Central Credit Union, a financial based organisation, is run by the members for the members. Anyone over the age of 16 can join the credit union and offers a convenient savings and low interest loan service. although loans can only be issued to members 18 years and over.

Members save on a regular basis for at least 13 weeks are then eligible to apply for their first loan. The interest on loans is 1% per month on a reducing balance. The Credit Union pay life insurance on loans and savings, at no cost to the members.

We also have a junior savers account, members are from birth to 16 years of age, members to the junior account can be enrolled by both Parents and Grandparents.

Today in the U.K Credit Unions can be either work or community based and all are regulated by the Financial Services Authority, the same authority that regulates banks and building societies.
